SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to provide quality painted parts per customer specifications, meeting production plan and customer requirements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May include the following; other duties may be assigned. Selects and mixes paint and accurately spay finish the parts. Wear appropriate full-face respirator, airline hood and full suit. Maintains and documents maintenance of personal protective equipment. Maintains paint booth. Documents paint usage. Properly collect and dispose of paint media to applicable rules and regulations. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with appropriate chemical. Attends Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordingly. Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Reports to work consistently on time and work an 8-hour shift. TRAINING, QUALIFICATION, AND EVALUATION: Training and qualification will be performed to the individual's Employee Training Outline/Checklist. Painter's proficiency will be evaluated on an annual basis by any or all of the following methods: Review quality records, job audit(s), class-room training and testing, or practical evaluations. The results of these proficiency evaluations will be reviewed with the painter. The method of and criteria for evaluation, and records of evaluations will be documented on the individual's Employee Training Outline/Checklist. Previous industrial painting preferred but not required. Ability to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to perform basic math computation such as add subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to read and understand blue prints and customer specifications. PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, intermittently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include natural or corrected near vision, close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is intermittently exposed to the outside weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes, building temperature fluctuation, dust, chemicals, odors and low to moderate levels of noise. Other conditions may include frequent interruptions, working alone, working long hours during peak periods and exposure to computer CRTs.
