Opportunity Village is seeking a proven manager for the position Assistant Director of Program Services to support a dynamic team responsible for community-based services for individuals with developmental disabilities within the greater Las Vegas area. The ideal candidate for this position will share OV's mission and bring a variety of attributes to OV including stewardship, productivity and accountability. A strong history of professional relationship building a must. We seek a person skilled in talent and program management.

The Assistant Director of Program Services is responsible for the supervision of all the staff that provide therapeutic day training, vocational assessment and supported employment services to people with intellectual and related disabilities. This role supervises the operation of Project Enable, PRIDE, Fine & Performing Arts, Community Outreach Program, and other programs or projects as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village's organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of clients and of staff.
  2. Duties for this position will include, but are not limited to, assisting in the oversight of services provided to individuals with complex behavior support needs, crisis response, behavior management, and staff training.
  3. This incumbent will also seek out new business opportunities in long-term care and related fields.
  4. Assist in creating and maintaining close relationships with families, guardians, caregivers, other providers, regulatory agencies, funders, and the community.
  5. Develop program budgets and supervise the management of expenses within budgets.
  6. Maintain basic health and safety principles and requirements sufficient to ensure that the safety needs of clients and staff are met.
  7. Adhere to professional and ethical guidelines for treatment staff, federal, state and county programs, laws and regulations
  8. Provide instruction to staff of techniques and methodologies used successfully to deliver services to persons with developmental disabilities and related conditions.
  9. Supervises and assists case management team to ensure that treatment requirements for clients are met and both internal and external deadlines are met.
  10. Measures principles sufficient to develop valid, reliable measure of client needs.
  11. Provides theories, practices and methods of providing crisis response.
  12. This position requires travel to all OV campuses and other off-campus meetings and events.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals receiving services and their families and caregivers, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written) to ensure a common understanding of programming needs and methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles that guide the provision of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.
  • Professional experience in developmental disabilities program services and supervision of professional staff.
  • Possess and display social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Visionary leadership skills and the ability to remain calm stressful and critical situations.
  • Support, lead, mentor, and motivate high performing staff.
  • Achieve and maintain current CPR and CPI certifications as a condition of employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in related field.
  • Required: Minimum five years of management experience related to health or human services for people with developmental disabilities.
  • Preferred: Seven to ten years effectively managing people.
  • Preferred: Experience working with Nevada statewide developmental disabilities services and programs.
