Under the direction of the Senior Financial Analyst, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for various duties in the maintenance of the general ledger and subaccounts and applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Activities may include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Government billings, purchasing, payroll, and fixed assets, among others.

  1. Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and ensure accurate and timely billing to our customers.
  2. Prepare and record invoices to government agencies
  3. Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules in the accounting software system.
  4. Assist Purchasing Manager in the maintenance of the Purchase Order system, and ensure that all invoices are paid accurately in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  5. Assist Payroll Manager with payroll system and payroll related items.
  6. Perform other accounting, financial or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Ability to perform in person and over the telephone negotiations.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • An aptitude for numbers and financial content.
  • Proper organizational skills as well as file allocation.
  • Highly skilled in use of Excel and MS Word.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting, Business or Finance.
  • Preferred: Two years’ work experience, Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP
