Summary Position Statement:

Under general supervision, a Custodial Services Manager performs a variety of custodial tasks, and leads other custodians in assigned work. The Custodian Site Supervisor oversees the work of employees including assigning workloads and monitoring employee performance and maintains adequate supplies for daily needs of custodial staff.

Essential Functions

  • Dusts and mops floors
  • Vacuums carpets
  • Cleans restrooms and restock paper and soap supplies
  • Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal
  • Locks doors after cleaning areas
  • Supervises the work of employees in supporting roles, including assigning workload and monitoring employee performance
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental policies
  • May oversee and/or assist with snow removal activities
  • Maintain adequate supplies for the day-to-day needs of custodial staff
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Trains custodial staff in proper use of equipment and supplies
  • Trains custodial staff in the proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Performs custodial staff evaluations after the first six months of employment and yearly thereafter
  • Promotes and fosters a cooperative work environment
  • Understands and complies with all agency policies and procedures
  • Ensures confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal/state law
  • Maintains and promotes a positive professional working relationship with all employees
  • Attends and participates in meetings, committees and training as assigned
 
Position Requirements Position Requirements:
• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR and first aid certificates required within 30 days of hire.
• TB, fingerprint and background check clearance required.
• Must have current Alaska driver's license and auto insurance per agency standards.
• Minimum Experience: One to three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Working Conditions:
• Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work, heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is primary part (more than 70%) of job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risk, which requires following basic safety precautions.

• Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform moderately strenuous work.
• Visual acuity necessary to job functions throughout the course of a normal workday.
• Ability to communicate verbally, both in person and over the telephone. May involve moderate to heavy lifting as needed.
Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed at the REACH office but may involve some travel within the agency's service area.
