Job Summary:

The Desktop Support team provides quality technical support to internal staff through a multitude of channels. Join us in providing end-user support and act as a first point of contact for technical issues, escalating as necessary. You will use a variety of technologies, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to provide the best possible experience for staff. The internship includes first-line support in a broad range of desktop equipment and standard software systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email
  • Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
  • Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Provide accurate information on IT products or services
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in the IT Help desk tool (Jira)
  • Follow-up and update customer status and information
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures
  • Support IT policies and standards
  • Support a diverse community of users with a wide range of computer skill levels
 
Position Requirements
  • Enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science or related field
  • Proven experience as a help desk technician or other customer support role
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases and remote control
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
  • Experience with troubleshooting for Windows and macOS
  • High level of comfort with learning new software tools
  • Ability to review and interpret technical information and translate for a less-technical audience
  • Basic troubleshooting and analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and customer needs while maintaining a high level of discipline, flexibility, and professionalism

This internship is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.
