Intern: MedImmune Bioprocess Engineering Bioprocess Engineering Intern Intern: Bioprocess Engineering Location: Gaithersburg, MD MedImmune is the worldwide biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca, a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. MedImmune is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines. We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related major for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the BioProcess Engineering department. This role is within the downstream technology transfer group. The project will involve modelling of purification process data from both clinical and scale up campaigns to build out our Monte Carlo predictive tool to determine its capability to predict quality and process outcomes. The resulting simulation tool would be used to compare the GMP production inputs and outputs. The next stage would be to compare these results with actual campaign results to see how accurate our tools are and identify unaligned areas. Ideally, the final stage of the project would be to identify and correct the causes of these discrepancies. Core Responsibilities: The core responsibilities of this position will be to review purification process details, compile data into summary graphs, create a simulation tool to compare data across scales of operation and use this information to compare results. |
