Intern: MedImmune Biologics – Laboratory Animal Research Research Animal Technician Intern Location: Gaithersburg, MD MedImmune is the worldwide biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca, a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development, and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Animal Science, Pre-Vet or a related major for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) department. This intern will explore career options in animal research, expand knowledge about research, develop and improve skills in handling, restraint, and technical procedures with research animals (rodents). Core Responsibilities: Understanding and following LAR Guidelines, perform daily health/mortality checks, observe and examine animals for signs of disease, distress or pain. Also, includes recording clinical observations and body weights, performing animal identification procedures, changing animal cages as needed, maintaining the animal facility in a clean and orderly condition, learning and performing basic technical procedures such as SC and IP injections, and performing other duties as assigned by the LAR Supervisor or Manager. |
