Intern: BPD – Logistics and Clinical Supply

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

MedImmune is the worldwide biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca, a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or a related major for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the BPD department.

The objective of this internship is to contribute to MedImmune Logistics and Clinical Supply (LCS) team through delivery or specified operational activities aligned to clinical trial supply.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Temperature Management: Support management of cold-chain activities for temperature sensitive products during distribution to clinical sites through review and disposition of temperature excursions that arise.
  • Inventory Management: Enable definition and management of long-term clinical supplies inventories held at external Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) on behalf of MedImmune. Develop business rules to define and disposition stored materials and progress agreed follow-up actions (eg. store, destroy, consolidate/move).
  • Document Management: Organize and maintain Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) study documentation in defined document repositories (hard copy and electronic as appropriate) in accordance with GXP procedures. This activity includes collation of information such as completed labels, and updating of study binders and electronic folders.
  • Special Project: Data Integrity – Research and determine how data integrity is managed and maintained with the LCS GMP systems.

 
Position Requirements

  • This position requires a well-organized individual who demonstrates personal flexibility, and an ability to work accurately within broad guidance to achieve deliverables.
  • The Clinical Supplies Administrator must possess good attention to detail whilst also demonstrating skills for organizing, planning, coordination, teamwork, and communication (oral, written and interpersonal).
  • The preferred candidate will be computer literate (Windows Office), and able to pick up new systems with ease.
  • Current undergraduate Sophomore, Junior
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0+
