SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Assistant Thrift Store Manager the Floor Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the Thrift Store staff and individuals with disabilities (Clients).  The Floor Supervisor will ensure the day-to-day operations of the Thrift Store; cash transactions, merchandising, stocking, pricing and customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  3. Supervise and motivate staff in all areas in all areas of the retail operations.
  4. Ensure that all staff, volunteers and the individuals served receive appropriate training.
  5. Perform store opening and closing duties.
  6. Assist customers and respond to all inquiries and complaints.
  7. Ensure sale items are properly merchandised, design and arrange front display window and in-store displays and oversee the stocking of shelves and display racks.
  8. Complete and ensure the accuracy of required paperwork (scheduling, attendance, daily cash receipts, deposit slips, ID Notes and Incident Reports). 
  9. Collaborate with Vocational Training Team members and Career Opportunity Advocates to ensure clients receive the support they need to successfully achieve their service plans and goals.
  10. Assists with inventory control and shrink related issues; responsible for the protection of property and building through carrying out appropriate loss prevention measures.
  11. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises the following positions:

  • Cashiers
  • Lead Cashiers
  • Retail Associates/Processors 
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to supervise staff, evaluate emergency situations and prioritize work load in order to meet strict deadlines.  
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Have effective leadership and team building skills.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations (add, subtract, divide and multiply) using units of U.S. currency.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Requires: High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years verifiable work experience.
  • Required: One to three years’ experience in retail or related industry.
  • Required: One to three years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
