Intern: MedImmune Drug Delivery Device Development Intern – Engineering Intern Location: Gaithersburg, MD MedImmune is the worldwide biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca, a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. MedImmune is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines. We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering or a similar field for an internship during the summer of 2018. This summer internship opportunity is with the Drug Delivery Device Development group. Core Responsibilities: The Engineering Intern will need to use computer aided design software (e.g. Solidworks) to design mechanical components and assemblies. This intern will also need to integrate with basic electronics controlling motor(s) and other control features (e.g. tension checker). Summary report and poster at end of summer project. Other duties may be assigned on an ad-hoc basis when taking into consideration intern interest and business need. The successful intern candidate will have a solid grasp of engineering mechanics, materials, computer aided design software, and basic electronics knowledge. |
