ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supports legacy avionics systems by performing the following tasks.
Plans, designs and develops hardware and software for avionics systems.
Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.
In a team environment, design and develop system, hardware or software test plans and procedures required to support verification of requirements for avionics equipment.
Participate in all verification/test phases of the system, hardware and software development life cycle (requirements analysis, architecture/system design, high level design, detailed design, implementation, module test, integration, system level test).
Prepare work estimates, schedule inputs and metric data for project management.
Consult with other cross-functional engineering staff (electrical, mechanical, systems, software) to evaluate testing requirements of hardware and software, and operational performance requirements of the overall system.
Interface with both domestic and foreign government and commercial customers.
Selects, proposes, and sometimes designs equipment and tooling for testing and manufacturing of hardware.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Prefer a 4 year degree plus a minimum of 8 years direct industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The individual must be capable of working on production and breadboard electronics, capable of moving and/or lifting up to 25 pounds for reasonable distances, electrical test equipment and environmental test equipment, to be able to type on a computer keyboard and to use a computer mouse or other suitable pointing device. To the extent possible, accommodations to those incapable of meeting these requirements shall be provided.
