Description

Come be a key player in discovery and connecting the next generation with wildlife and the earth through play. Help lead campers in activities, games, crafts and zoo tours designed to teach environmental education concepts, connect children with nature, and inspire conservation actions.

What would you be doing?

Camp Instructors utilize two pre-determined curricula to teach environmental education concepts and connect children with nature. Instructors are part of a dynamic team including instructors, assistants and volunteers. Instructors are responsible for leading their group toward a week of learning and fun. Each team teaches 10-14 children each week, depending on the program and age of the campers.

Zooper Camp

KINDER CAMP HALF-DAY PROGRAM DETAILS:

Kinder Camp: lead an exciting blend of games, activities and opportunities to observe zoo animals for early learners!

Ages: 3-4

The ability to work all dates and times listed below is required for the Kinder Camp Full-Day Program Instructors:

  • June 9 and June 16, 2018 – Weekend required trainings (full-day)
  • June 18 - 22, 2018 Training week, full-time approx. 40 hours
  • June 25 - August 31, 2018: Mon-Fri, mornings, approx. 25 hours per week (No camp July 4)

ZOOPER DAY CAMP DETAILS:

Zooper Day Camp is our most popular camp, offering two exciting themes each summer!

Ages: 4-9

The ability to work all dates and times listed below is required for Zooper Day Camp Instructors:

  • June 9 and June 16, 2018 – Weekend required trainings (full-day)
  • June 18 - 22, 2018 Training week, full-time approx. 40 hours
  • June 25 - August 31, 2018: Mon-Fri, 35-40 hours per week (No camp July 4)

DISCOVERIES DAY CAMP DETAILS:

Discoveries Day Camp is offered in partnership with Seattle Children's Theatre Drama School, Discoveries Day Camp offers a blend of creative drama and environmental education for children ages 5-7. To get an idea of the creative drama programming Seattle Children’s Theatre provides, you can visit their website at www.sct.org/school/classes.

**At least two years creative drama/theatre experience required for Discovery Day Camp Instructors**

Ages: 5-7

The ability to work all dates and times listed below is required for Discoveries Day Camp Instructors:

  • June 9 and June 16, 2018 – Weekend required training (full-day)
  • June 18 - 22, 2018 Training week, full-time approx. 40 hours
  • June 25 - August 31, 2018: Mon-Fri, 35-40 hours per week (no camp July 4)
  • A limited duration position may also be available, requiring the availability of training sessions and the weeks of July 30- August 20. Please mention in your cover letter if this is something you're available for.

ZOO UNIVERSITY DETAILS:

Zoo University: In Zoo U, children ages 10 -14 study more advanced subjects while playing exciting, topic-based games and making new friends at the zoo.

Ages: 10-14

The ability to work all dates and times listed below is required for Zoo-U Instructors:

  • June 9 and June 16, 2018 – Weekend required trainings (full-day)
  • June 18 - 22, 2018 Training week, full-time approx. 40 hours
  • June 25 - August 31, 2018: Mon-Fri, 35-40 hours per week (No camp July 4)
