Description

BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will provide engineering support on divisional projects, approximately 75% office Solidworks/CAD/ECO support, 25% lab support. Percentage split will vary throughout year based on projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Use SolidWorks to design or modify mechanical components with familiarity of: thermoplastic, thermoset, and silicone injection molded parts, sheet metal, weldments, machined components, extrusions, forgings, 3D assemblies, and PDM.
  • Experience with dimensioning and tolerancing parts and assemblies using AMSE Y14.5. Analyze assembly tolerance stack-up.
  • Prepare design documentation: part and assembly drawings, bill of materials, illustrations for patents and owner’s manuals.
  • Prepare minor cost studies and provide innovative designs which lower manufacturing costs.
  • Design and document manufacturing fixtures and engineering test instruments.
  • Build prototypes by: modifying existing components, procuring rapid prototyped parts, build wire harnesses, sheet metal fabrication, and hand tool general assembly.
  • Setup instrumentation and perform various engineering tests to obtain temperature, pressure, flow, and stress measurements using data acquisition system.
  • Assist in manufacturing problem solving as needed.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Design Drafting or Engineering Technology

  • At least 2-3 years of relevant experience required

  • Experience with various types of hand tools, machine and fabrication tools

  • Experience with SolidWorks & AutoCAD or similar CAD programs, MS Word & Excel

  • Ability to understand, create, & sustain circuit diagrams

  • Candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment, and as an individual contributor with minimal supervision

  • Candidate must be a highly motivated team player with a positive attitude, and able to prioritize tasks and utilize time effectively

  • Understanding of DC circuits, PLC programing, and test data acquisition automation is a plus.

  • Understanding of Visual Basic for Applications and macro development is a plus.
