What are the general responsibilities of the position?

Payroll Consultants work with clients to provide consultation and guidance around best practice setup and use of the Ascentis Payroll product. During implementation you will assist clients in navigating the many options of the system, including an analysis of their labor and organizational structure, system configuration related to payroll calculation, earning and deduction types, shift differentials, work comp setup, and proper tax setup and calculation by Federal, State and local tax entity. You will consult and guide clients around payroll processing best practices, multi-state payroll, specialized payrolls for bonus, owners, and independent contractors. You will continue to provide guidance during parallel testing and compliance review. Key initiatives are to provide the client with a consultative experience in the building and design of their Ascentis HR system and to ensure clients are well trained on the product and setup for ultimate success as they launch the product to their employee population and beyond. The core expectations or the role are:

  • Portfolio – Payroll Consultants can expect to carry between 6 and 10 clients at a time. Clients will range in both size and complexity.
  • Throughput – Consultants are expected to manage the throughput of the projects they participate on to either meet or exceed delivery on implementation milestones as established in the client’s project timeline.
  • Quality – Consultants are expected to deliver the highest quality experience as measured by client feedback and surveys.
  • Innovation – Ascentis highly values innovation and efficiency. Consultants are expected to participate in the collaboration and development of processes and innovation within the Professional Services team and Ascentis at large.
 
Position Requirements

Required Skills and Experience – Payroll Consultant

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 or more years in Payroll, especially in areas related to Payroll tax law and compliance and multi-state Payroll.
  • Strong logical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Above average excel skills, with the ability to manipulate a variety of data formats.
  • High E.Q. – ability to adapt your communication style and approach to the needs of the client to provide the best possible consultative experience for each unique client.
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Webinar presentation experience. The majority of training and client interaction takes place virtually via web presentations and online meetings. Consultant must have strong presentation skills in general as well as experience with virtual meeting presentations specifically.

Preferred

  • CPP
  • 3 or more years HCM software implementation experience
