PURPOSE: Assist KMHS staff with the integration of mental health and substance abuse services across agency programs. To develop and implement integrated behavioral health trainings, supervision, and provision of KMHS substance abuse disorder services for outpatient, community based, and residential services. To supervise CDPs and CDPTs.


  • Provide supervision to support and reinforce the integration of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder services throughout KMHS.
  • Provide integrated mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment supervision, training, and support to Adult and Youth Care Teams and Care Team Supervisors based on their assessed unique needs.
  • Provide support to the KMHS Clinical Management Team regarding assessment, service provision, and service model design so as to facilitate seamless mental health and SUD services across the various treatment milieus.
  • Implement a training curriculum, for clinical staff that is specifically targeted to the needs of those served by KMHS and based on recognized evidence based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment, and others.
  • Maintain educational materials and resources for CDPs, CDPTs, supervisors and staff to help them stay abreast of the latest research and trends in integrated treatment.
  • Develop, lead and/or support practices that reinforce mental health and SUD intervention integration strategies across the various staff disciplines.
  • Hire and supervise KMHS Chemical Dependency Professional Trainees and provide oversight of KMHS Chemical Dependency contracts as needed.
  • Provide education to the community regarding the impact of SUD and co-occurring mental health and SUD on physical health and health management.
  • Collaborate with other service providers to expand the community’s integrated behavioral health services capacity.
  • Work with local educational institutions of higher learning to facilitate opportunities for training in mental health and SUD integration across health professions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support KMHS as an Integrated Care environment for health professionals and para-Professionals.
  • Work with Washington State Department of Behavioral Rehabilitation and Department of Health to encourage the integration of mental health and SUD treatment through innovative strategies and programs that increase treatment effectiveness and efficiency and reduce the impact of separate funding, regulatory, and credentialing silos.
  • Document and maintain integrated treatment strategies and materials in a manner that is replicable by other similar organizations.
  • Monitor SUD Contract requirement, validate Title 19 billing and facilitate relationship with Contract Monitor.
  • Promotes a culture of Recovery and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Represent KMHS at community stakeholder meetings related to SUD and COD.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: SUD residential services, indirect supervisory support of KMHS internal CDPs and CDPTs and direct supervision of CDPs and CDPTs for KMHS external SUD and MAT services.

Position Requirements

Master’s Degree in Behavioral Health meeting both Mental Health Professional and Chemical Dependency Professional qualifications. Credentialed ability to supervise CDP’s and CDPT’s. Minimum five years experience providing integrated mental health and substance use services, preferably for children and adults with severe or chronic mental illness. Knowledge of the impact of mental health and substance use disorders on other health aspects. Experience working with WAC’s and other regulatory environments. Excellent organization, communication and engagement skills.
