The Insight Welding Intelligence group is looking for an innovative and highly motivated individual for the position of Software/Electrical Engineer to be a key driver of differentiation and competitive advantage throughout our product line. The position will be about 60% software focused and about 40% hardware focused.


  • Primary responsibilities include working closely with the engineering team, product management, service, and end users to improve current products and develop new products to serve our customers’ needs.

  • This position will require an individual with the skills to understand leading technologies and the flexibility to adapt quickly to different projects as required.

  • Direct involvement in hardware and software design activities including: system architecture, component selection, schematic layout and assembly, troubleshooting, compliance testing and documentation, product introduction, and manufacturing support.

Position Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field required.

  • 5+ years of industry experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with C/C++ programming for 8, 16 or 32-bit processors and object-oriented coding techniques for embedded applications and OS based software architectures.

  • Experience in software design for Linux, Windows CE/embedded, and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) for embedded MCUs.

  • Proficiency with industrial fieldbus protocols and other serial network communications (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiNet, CAN, USB, RS485, Modbus, etc.).

  • Knowledgeable in network protocols and data exchange formats (CAN, TCP/IP, UDP, XML, JSON) and familiarity with multiple levels of the OSI model.

  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, troubleshooting, documentation, and manufacturing support.

  • Candidate must be accustomed to working with a sense of urgency while balancing calculated risk, possess strong analytical, project management, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.


  • Experience developing with wireless systems including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

  • Experience communicating with suppliers, end-users, and distributors

  • Experience with the Agile/Scrum development process

  • Understanding of electronic circuit design for both digital and analog applications and power electronics along with PCB layout and PCB manufacturing processes
