Description

The Fiber Optics Engineer is responsible for developing fiber optics packaging from proof-of-concept, prototype, all the way through final manufacturing, design documentation, and product qualification. The packaging engineer will combine software design tools with hands-on experimental skills in developing fiber optic devices. The customer’s satisfaction with device performance and reliability as well as the product’s manufacturability are the goals of the engineer.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge and skill in: Opto-Mechanical and Opto-Electronic Systems.
  • Experience with epoxying and other bonding methods, such as laser welding, used in precision optical component assembly.
  • Proficient with engineering design tools such as Solid Works, Zemax, etc.
  • Familiar with Best-Practice Manufacturing Techniques (GD&T, SPC, 6Sigma, and Lean Principles).
  • Good Communication Skills.
  • Able to work well in a team. The successful candidate will interact with broad range of other Engineers, production line purchaser/planner, marketing /sales and production line assembly technicians.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree (or higher level) in Optical, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
  • 2+ Years’ Hands-on experience in the photonics industry, laser or physics lab.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills.
  • US Persons/Green card holders:
    • Ability to work on ITAR related product(s)

Preferred:

  • 2+ years experience in working with fiber coupled electro optic systems.
  • 2+ years experience in fiber lensing.
  • Experience Releasing and Maintaining Production Optical Processes.
