SUMMARY:

Responsible for ensuring maximum guest service satisfaction, by orchestrating, through the team, production of quality food and in accordance with Corporate Commissions’ high standards of service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Responsible for the coordination of all Banquets Events for on and off site locations ensuring room set up and food & beverage service meets Guest satisfaction.

  • Ensures performance standards, policies, and procedures on the Banquet department are in accordance with Grand Casinos’ mission and objectives.

  • Responsible for coordinating the fulfillment of the Banquet event orders as requested.

  • Enforce performance standards, policies and procedures in the venue are in accordance with Corporate Commissions’ mission and objectives.

  • Responsible for complying with all food and beverage health, liquor and safety regulations; as well as all Tribal, Federal, State and Local applicable laws.

  • Responsible for the scheduling, evaluating and training of the Associates ensuring staff’s compliance with all guest service standards.

  • Responsible for liquor control and ordering for Venue.

  • Responsible for wine menu management including specifying new menu items.

  • Ensure venue operations are run in a smooth, efficient manner to ensure guests satisfaction.

  • Review and approve all recommendations and suggestions to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, evaluate, assign and discipline all Associates in a fair and equitable manner.

  • Maximize cost effectiveness within the department by ensuring compliance with established budget, labor and revenue benchmarks.

  • Responsible for listening to, evaluating and assuring control of guest grievances and settles them without delay.

  • Responsible for the job performance of all Associates and provides feedback on it to aid the Associates in developing and enhancing skills.

  • Provide input to Vice President of Food and Beverage concerning operational deficiencies and areas in need of attention.

  • Review financial statements: forecast revenue and labor figures for department; maintain proper inventory control.

  • Establish priorities for all supervisors and provides assistance as needed.

  • Ensure accurate weekly inventory.

  • Participate in the development of new menu items, daily special, and promotions,

    taking under consideration venue budget, food cost perceived and guest satisfaction.

  • Knowledge of Grand Casinos internal controls, policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining all kitchen equipment and the appearance of the venue in accordance Corporate Commission standards.

  • Responsible for maintaining open communication throughout the venue, through monthly staff meetings, weekly supervisory meeting, and daily pre-shift meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Six (6) years progressive related Banquet Operations experience with five (5) years of Supervisory/Managerial experience required and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Two (2) years alcohol service including wine service experience with one (1) year of Supervisory experience in a venue that serves alcohol required.

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to pass company pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.

  • Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority.

  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

  • Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’S).

  • Must be computer-literate with specific proficiency in Microsoft applications.

  • Knowledge and full understanding of financial planning, profit and loss statements, and budget forecasting.

  • Serv-Safe Certification preferred (Certification is required within one (1) year of placement).

  • Alcohol Awareness Certification (CARE) preferred (Certification is required within one (1) year of placement).

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group situations, and to moderate-sized gatherings of associates and/or executives.Must be able to read and interpret financial reports, contracts and legal documents.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, common fractions, and decimals.

    REASONING ABILITY:

  • Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to a variety of situations, in order to collect data, analyze facts, and determine appropriate response.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to:

  • Talk and hear;

  • See and adjust focus to include close, distance, depth, and peripheral vision;

  • Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch and/or crawl;

  • Handle objects, tools and controls; reach with arms and hands.

  • Lift and/or move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly exposed to:

  • A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).

  • A moderate-to-loud noise level (public areas).

  • Second-hand cigarette/cigar smoke.

  • Moving mechanical and/or electrical components.

  • Chemical solutions such as cleaning, and polishing compounds.
