The Optical Networking & Sensing research department at NEC Laboratories America in Princeton, NJ has multiple summer internship positions available for a period of three to six months for graduate students. Our group engages in advanced researches in various areas of fiber optic communications, from terrestrial system to transoceanic system, from physical layer to network layer, from transportation to switching. The on-going projects include transmitter and receiver technologies to improve spectral efficiency, spatial division multiplexing technology, transmission impairment mitigation techniques, flexible network routing and resource allocation algorithms, software-defined cross-layer network design, and intelligent network optimization. Students will work closely with group members on new research problems, with potential for publication in premier conferences. |
We are seeking self-motivated graduate students in the area of telecommunications. The candidates must be enrolled in a PhD program with solid technical knowledge, hands-on experiment skill, and strong publication record on one or more of the following areas: • High speed WDM transmission technologies • Physical impairment mitigation techniques • Fiber design and modeling • Fiber optic device, sub-system, and system design • Optical network routing, resource management and survivability • Machine learning for optical network applications |
