IT Application Specialist 1 (Internal)

Position Description

As a member of the Information Technology team, the IT Application Specialist will be working closely with other departments as a first responder; monitoring, identifying, and responding to alerts and errors in our customer Certification and Production environments. In addition, they are responsible for documenting any issues discovered within these environments, along with their resolutions for other Shift4 teams to reference. Duties will also include patching, application configuration, application deployment and maintaining Certification and Production systems.

A successful candidate for this position will be able to work well under pressure, encompassing the ability to stay on task and follow through on projects while remaining flexible and proactive. The candidate must be very well organized, demonstrating a strong capacity for completing tasks with little or no supervision.

Position Requirements Essential Functions
• Identifying and documenting new error conditions as they occur, including working with TechSec and Development to determine an appropriate response to new conditions
• Communicating with IT and other departments regarding how teams will be troubleshooting errors and alerts
• Monthly or emergency patching of the various environments
• Upgrade of the DOLLARS ON THE NET® (DOTN), web, and VT4 applications
• Be responsible for updating, maintaining and deploying in both Certification (Certify) and Production environments
• Act as a first responder to applications issues
• Monitor log collection systems (Splunk), email alerting (webalerts@), and informational dashboards (Citadel) for any error conditions, then responding per documentation
• First responder triage of DOTN, web, and VT4 issues
• Installation and configuration of applications
• Interface with other departments regarding application error and document how the process can be handled expediently in the future
• Other duties as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to communicate with various teams via phone, Lync or e-mail regarding errors and alerts that have occurred
• Basic knowledge of DOLLARS ON THE NET®, 4Res, i4Go and other Shift4 products
• Familiarity in UTG Troubleshooting
• Basic knowledge of server to server, 4Res, i4Go and DOTN
• Proficient in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook
• Flexibility in a dynamically changing environment, acknowledging urgency when necessary
• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times along with the ability to properly handle sensitive materials concerning the organization
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills

Education and Experience
• Minimum of High School Diploma, or G.E.D.
• Certification in A+, Network +, Security + encouraged
• Basic knowledge of Splunk is encouraged
• Must currently be in Installations or Technical Services departments
• Or a minimum of three years at Shift4 Corporation
