Description

The Energy Management Department in Cupertino, CA, invites applications for summer internship position from qualified PhD candidates. The internship project includes research on energy storage and renewable energy integration, power/load forecasting and energy market. The successful candidate will work on an energy management platform to develop optimized control strategies for distributed and renewable energy resources. The candidate is also expected to develop algorithms for energy trading in day-ahead and real-time energy and ancillary market with successful load and renewable energy generation forecasting. The research should result in top-tier publications and contribute to novel product ideas.

 
Position Requirements

• PhD candidate in CS/EE or equivalent
• Expert knowledge of stochastic optimization methods
• Understanding of energy management systems (e.g. distributed energy resources, battery, renewable energy integration)
• Knowledge and experience of machine learning techniques, such as neural networks and deep learning
• Strong programming (C++, Python, Java, etc.) and system design skills
• Experience with optimization tools and Solvers (GLPK, COIN etc.)

Desired skills:
• Knowledge of energy storage applications, energy market trading strategies
• Background in statistical analysis and forecasting
