PC Administrator

Installs, upgrades, and verifies client operating systems, firmware, applications, and layered products. Also installs and upgrades operating systems and firmware on routers, switches and various other hardware components. Manages user accounts and security on operating systems and some layered products and applications. Troubleshoots hardware and software issues to include cross platform clients. Manages PC/laptop security functions such as virus/firewall software, tunneling software, etc. Manages images used to clone PCs and laptops. Manages user email accounts. Determines safety of emails requested for release that have potentially harmful attachments. Interfaces with programmers and user community to ensure timely and accurate hardware and software deployment. Develops proactive hardware and software diagnostic procedures to help in early identification of problems and improve system uptime. Assists with Cooperative sponsored functions as needed. Assists in other areas of the IS Department as needed. Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall objectives of the department.

Position Requirements Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience. Minimum of one to five years related experience and/or training. (This position is expected to be filled as a PC Administrator I or II; depending on the skill, knowledge and ability of the selected applicant.)

Job Knowledge: Receives guidance with respect to general objectives; in the majority of tasks and projects assigned, determine methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments; operate within specific policy guidelines. Notices and remembers several details that are relevant to the process or procedure being shown. Write messages that are clear and highly consistent with standard business English. Use good sentence structure with a smooth, logical style and no mechanical errors. Must have advanced personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Advanced proficiency level utilizing and troubleshooting multiple versions of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and Visio. Experience with using and troubleshooting Microsoft Outlook within a network environment (managing personal folders, permissions, calendar sharing, and delegation). Advanced proficiency level utilizing and troubleshooting Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows XP and Windows 7. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP technology, 802.1x network topology, Linux, Mac OS and DOS. Must be able to diagnose and resolve Windows, VMS, Blueridge, and SSL VPN connectivity issues. Working knowledge of print queues, both in VMS and Windows. Must be able to quickly learn to install and troubleshoot issues with the following software: Help Desk, SOS, Cash, OSP, SRS, Customer Care, My Account, Online Utility Exchange, Application Extender, Netcracker, Mimesweeper, Citrix Administrative Tools, Reflections, nfomaker, Epin, PeopleSoft, IRS, Scheduling, Purchase Requisition, PFC Security, Call Pilot, Adobe Flash, SMS remote control, Adobe Creator, Adobe Dreamweaver, Symantec Antivirus/Firewall, Cadtel/ESRI/FME/Spatial Navigator, CRM, Pricequote, Dossier, Eclipse, Exceed, Hyperion, Mitel Workbench, PCAnywhere, Procomm, Sybase, IBM I5, Actellis EMS, Calix, Equinox, SCCM, PGP Encryption, FTP applications, Compression Utilities, Diagnostic Utilities, Media Software, Trend Micro, Axvision, VMWare, Virtual Applications, Security Camera Viewers, Sensource Door Counter, AT&T Manager, Soneplex, Cisco Transport Manager, Disk Wipe, Labeling Software, and Voitra.
