Clinical Manager, Adolescent Residential

The Manager in this role promotes the success of Pine Rest by ensuring the continued development and coordination of the Center for Psychiatric Residental Services (CPRS) program. Decisions made and actions taken in this capacity generally have the power to affect the entire organization. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates and actuates mission to department/program staff members and throughout the organization.
  • Creates and develops strategic plans for the CPRS department/programs.
  • May serve on the leadership team and other committees.
  • Models an appreciation and respect for diversity, inclusiveness, and culturally competent services.
  • Utilizes department/operating unit structure to achieve goals and strategies, making changes when necessary for better efficiency and to further develop core competencies of the department/program.
  • Practices stewardship when developing and adhering to departmental and organizational budgets.
  • Ensures that staff members’ training is kept current. May train and/or coordinate the training of new staff or existing staff on certain applications or procedures.
  • Partners with other CRS Leaders to hold assigned staff accountable for the actualization of strategies, plans, and budgets.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of special events.
  • Clearly communicates expectations, requirements, results, and issues to staff and provides clarification of key policies.
  • Develops procedures and monitors them for improved performance.
  • Mentors staff to encourage their development.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars and the like.
  • Oversees the development of annual financial plan for division or business units, as well as creation of financial and operational components of business plans.
  • Manages divisional financial performance through financial analysis of actual, trended and forecasted performance, cost analysis, variance management, and maintains knowledge of revenue cycle and billing processes, as well as contracts.
  • Support and promote a recovery focused environment and person-centered approach within the program.
  • Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training.
  • Performs other duties or functions as assigned. Specific duties and areas of responsibility for this position within each department shall be defined by the Group Director.
Position Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Current Michigan LMSW required
  • More than 2 years of experience in a child care institution

Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Ability to provide cultural competent care with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community setting.
  • Interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain appropriate relationships; negotiate with peers and superiors on policy and procedural matters; effectively handle emotionally charged sensitive and confidential situations; supervise and train staff; and write informational materials.
  • Extensive analytical skills are necessary to evaluate the department/program, policies and operating procedures, to propose improvements to the plan to meet changing needs and to assess resources, budgets and revenues.
  • The candidate may be required to have a valid Michigan driver’s license and ability access to access Pine Rest Transportation Vehicles for the performance of job duties.

About the Organization Pine Rest is a nonprofit, free standing, behavioral health system founded in 1910 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This comprehensive behavioral health center, coupled with the Pine Rest network of 18 outpatient clinics and satellite offices in Michigan and Iowa, provide individualized and group therapy for people of all ages and all levels of need. Pine Rest clinicians offer therapeutic services in behavioral health for people of all ages and all levels of need across the continuum of care within a Christian framework.

Pine Rest has a 198-bed inpatient hospital program with a 36-bed child and adolescent inpatient and a large partial hospital program for adolescents. Additionally, Pine Rest has many inpatient services for adults, including: four 22-bed adult inpatient units each designed for a different level of acuity, a 22-bed co-occurring substance use disorder adult inpatient unit, a large adult partial hospital program, and a 26-bed older adult inpatient unit.

The Pine Rest Community and Residential Services Division also provides a wide array of services. With over 220 residential beds across a variety of programs, including treatment for substance use disorders, homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disorders, adults with mental illness, and a program for youth aged 11-18 with extensive trauma histories focusing on trauma treatment and life skills programming.

The Pine Rest Behavioral Health Solutions Division partners with behavioral health and medical organizations to increase access to psychiatry services and to provide a continuum of behavioral health and telepsychiatry services throughout many communities across the State of Michigan.
