Share Email Opening Title Manufacturing Process Engineer  Astronics Subsidiary   Location   Description SUMMARY Luminescent Systems Inc., an industry leader in Aerospace Lighting Technologies and Products, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience with Electronic Assembly Processes. This position is a salaried Engineering position directed at supporting our ongoing electro-mechanical processes as well as working to improve them in a continuous improvement, LEAN, Flow based manufacturing environment. These processes involve though-hole soldering, wave soldering, surface mount component placement & processing, circuit board cleaning, conformal coating, heat and pressure processing, environmental stress screening, and electrical and photometric testing, as well as various chemicals, epoxies, adhesives, sealants, and encapsulates. A leading candidate needs to be highly self-motivated and detail oriented as well as being able to manage multiple projects at the same time. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Interface with existing production, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, quality, purchasing, and planning departments to best determine company needs and how to maintain and /or develop capabilities to meet them Identify, specify, source and lead the procurement of new equipment and be directly involved in the implementation, qualification and training on that piece of equipment; including qualification, development of work instructions and the documentation plans to train staff and release that equipment to production Evaluating run-times of products, developing/improving work instructions and SOPs, process improvements, designing/fabricating tooling and fixturing   Position Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Ability to work with minimal supervision Familiarity with ISO9000/AS9100 based Quality Management Systems An understanding of IPC-A-610 Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems Experience with LEAN manufacturing objectives (Green Belt) Detail-oriented with good organization skills and proven ability to initiate priorities based on general guidelines Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively and professionally interact with others in a manufacturing environment Proficient with AutoCAD, Solidworks, Lab View, and PADS logic/layout (ORCAD, Pspice) Background check and pre-employment drug test required EDUCATION: Bachelor of Engineering Degree and/or extensive relevant experience in a manufacturing or process-engineering role.   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time     About the Organization Astronics Corporation (Nasdaq: ATRO) serves the world's aerospace, defense, and other mission critical industries with proven, innovative technology solutions.
