EWASTE+ focuses on the recovery of value from idle, obsolete and excess electronic equipment and operates a large-scale processing facility in Victor, New York (near Rochester) and two regional consolidation facilities in Albany and New York City. The company utilizes environmentally sound processing methods that maximize value and recovery while eliminating disposal of electronics in landfills. Description

EWASTE+, the leading electronics recycler in NY State, is seeking a Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager for our Victor, NY facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a person with excellent organizational, communication and time-management skills. As a EH&S Manager for EWASTE+, you would be responsible for coordinating all efforts related to maintenance and management of our current certifications and our company-wide Quality, Environment, Health & Safety management system (QEH&S). Candidates who have a working knowledge of R2/RIOS and NAID certification standards are of particular interest to us.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure that processes needed for QEH&S management system are established, implemented and maintained.
  • Report to senior management on the performance of the QEH&S and any need for improvement.
  • Establish, maintain, promote compliance and awareness of our QEH&S management system throughout the organization.
  • Liaise with internal and external assessment bodies on all matters related to the external accreditation process.
  • Ensure that a document control procedure is adopted to approve, review and update all changes to critical documents within the scope of the QEH&S management system.
  • Ensure that records are established and maintained to provide evidence that the QEH&S management system is being followed and that there is a system in place for the identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposition of such records.
  • Ensure that the performance of the QEH&S is reviewed at planned intervals to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness. This review means assessing opportunities for improvement and the need for changes to the QEH&S.
  • Ensure that objectives are set by senior management for measuring the performance of the QEH&S and that these are regularly reviewed.
  • Ensure that all new staff is inducted into the requirements of the QEH&S related to their own roles and responsibilities. Provide update training as necessary.
  • Ensure that all suppliers used by the organization are selected, evaluated, reevaluated, and that records of these assessments are maintained.
  • Ensure that organization undertakes periodic but regular assessments of customer satisfaction and that continual improvement plans are identified as well as implemented.
  • Manages the relationship and listings with regulatory and standards agencies and organizations to maintain certification to specific quality standards (i.e. R2/RIOS, NAID)
  • Other assignments provided by President

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum of5 years’ experience implementing and establishing company compliance/performance requirements

  • Experience with R2 and/or ISO 9001 & 14001 standards

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

  • Excellent writing skills and verbal skills

  • Work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment

  • Multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in timely manner

  • Ability to travel to other locations and/or suppliers (approximately 10%)

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
