Description

The Energy Management Department in Cupertino, CA, invites applications for summer internship position from qualified PhD candidates. The internship project includes research on decentralized and transactive energy management in micro/power grids for optimization of distributed and renewable energy resources with energy storage utilizing smart contract framework of a blockchain technology. The successful candidate is expected to develop a transactive energy management framework based on sound modeling and theoretical foundation including power systems, graph modeling, or game theories to establish and solve a critical decentralized control problem of distributed energy resources.

 
Position Requirements

• PhD candidate in CS/EE or equivalent field
• Understanding of energy management systems (e.g. distributed energy resource, battery, power flow)
• Profound knowledge on transactive energy framework
• Solid understanding of concepts on distributed networks and systems
• Good programming (C++, Python, Java, etc.) and system design skills

Desired Skills:
• Knowledge of blockchain technology, IoT, security, and cloud computing
• Data mining, graph modeling, and game theory skills are plus
