Are you a game-changer? We invite you to join our Summer Intern Team as an Intern Chemist. The objective of this internship would be to carry out competitive chemical reactions in order to characterize mixing timescales within continuous and batch reactors in CPR&D. Average mixing times are a key variable in scaling fast reactions and this data can be used to make mixing correlations with the aid of a simple mixing model. With corrections of mixing times at various geometries and scales, a scientific basis for tech transfer and scale up can be achieved in continuous reactors and some batch reactors. This would have utility in scale-up for making API to support clinical programs and future commercial production. The output for an intern would be a report on mixing timescales in our reactors and gaining specific experience in state of the art techniques in terms of chemical reaction engineering, fluid mechanics and flow chemistry. The intern will learn general lab methodologies and associated activities involved in drug development.   Position Requirements Qualifications To participate in the AstraZeneca MedImmune Intern Program, Students must meet the following eligibility criteria: • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. • Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, returning to the academic program following AstraZeneca MedImmune assignment • Minimum grade point average of 3.2 preferred • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date • Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies Education Studies focused can be in any of the following areas: Chemical Engineering , Finance, Life Science, Marketing, Communications   Full-Time/Part-Time Seasonal   Location Gaithersburg, MD   This position is currently not accepting applications.
