Description

Position Summary:

The Accountant is responsible for completing the monthly close in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision as well as producing financial reports each month for each department and senior leadership.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly close in a timely and accurate manner

    • Create work papers and post journal entries to general ledger including recurring and accrual entries
      • Account reconciliations for assets and liabilities
      • Analyze, review, and adjust income and expense general ledger accounts
      • Bank and investment account reconciliations
      • Review and update recurring entries
      • Prepare and post payroll and benefits entries
      • Maintain fixed assets schedules, calculate and post depreciation and amortization expenses
      • Inventory reconciliation, analysis and reporting
    • Reporting
      • Complete and review financial statements for accuracy in a timely manner

      • Prepare and process sales tax return

  • Manage physical inventory
    • Work with store and warehouse management to assist with recording cycle counts
    • Review data for accuracy
    • Complete inventory reporting and book appropriate journal entries
  • Prepare and process bank deposits
  • Upload fundraising revenue to general ledger
  • Assist in preparation of audits including annual audit, 403B audit and A-133 audit
  • Interpret corporate policy to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree and at least three years accounting experience
• CPA and/or MBA preferred
• Familiarity with accounting software required; Intermediate or better Excel skills; Navision and Store Management Suite (SMS) knowledge a plus but not required
• Strong analytical skills
• Non-profit, grocery store, retail or distribution experience desired
• MS Office Suite experience required
