Description

Under the general direction of the Compliance Director, the Compliance Auditor is responsible for the timely execution of risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan, as well as assisting with other audit matters and projects.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assist Compliance Director with creating and determining internal audit scope, developing annual plan and updating internal audit plan as necessary.

  • Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over Lakeland Care, Inc.’s (LCI) effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.

  • Obtain, analyze and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc.

  • Conduct risk assessments of assigned functional areas in established timeframes.

  • Establish risk-based audit programs.

  • Prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results and document process.

  • Determine scope of review in conjunction with the Compliance Director.

  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement.

  • Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions and identify reportable issues and dimension of risk.

  • Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.

  • Determine compliance with policies and procedures and assist with drafting new policies and procedures as needed.

  • Perform inquiries and testing as needed to identify and resolve vulnerabilities.

  • Develop new audit programs to ensure adequate financial controls.

  • Supports external auditors by coordinating information requirements.

  • Verbally communicate findings to senior management and draft comprehensive and complete report of audit area.

  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and, or equivalent combination of formal education and experience preferred

  • Minimum of two years of audit experience in the health care industry, through public accounting/auditing and/or industry experience preferred.

  • CPA or CIA certification preferred.

  • Health care compliance experience preferred.

  • Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations.

  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases.

  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational and relationship building skills.

  • Ability to learn industry standards and maintain high level of confidentiality.

  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and proof of adequate insurance required.
