OVERVIEW

Provide scientific leadership for Seventh Generation’s new business development across multiple categories. This role will be a pivotal liaison between Seventh Generation New Business Development Team, Seventh Generation R&D and Unilever R&D/Operations teams in the development of New Business opportunities for Seventh Generation. This role requires strong knowledge of Product Development processes, technical acumen and excellent communication skills to work across stakeholders both within Seventh Generation and across Unilever teams. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for helping set technical success criteria, educating the formulation/package/process development teams on key product considerations and ensuring all products meet the agreed upon standards to ensure the brand technical standards are met in the launch of new categories.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Be the primary technical product lead operating between the Seventh Generation New Business Development Team, Unilever R&D/SC and the Seventh Generation R&D Team to bring new category innovations to market.
  • Ensure all team members understand key technical challenges and have the proper product knowledge base to succeed.
  • Partner with Brand Managers and other cross functional team members to define project scope, action standards, CapEx requirements, quality plan, supply chain considerations and other applicable criteria
  • Manage the raw material review/approval process and related documentation, including acting as the point of contact for documentation with raw material suppliers.
  • Coordinate data requests from internal and external stakeholders and provide reports, presentations, and other materials as required.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects as required.
 
Position Requirements

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biological Science, Physical Science, or related discipline.
  • 5+ Years of experience in an R&D setting.
  • Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods – Preferably Home and/or Personal Care.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing logistically complex projects and large volumes of data.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work in team based environment.
  • Capacity to flourish in an environment of rapid change and high ambiguity.
  • Able to coordinate the needs of multiple functional areas simultaneously.
  • Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment and for a socially responsible business.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to continually embrace personal and professional development.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required (New Jersey & Europe)
