Description

The position aids in the assurance of vendor & manufacturing compliance to Thorlabs ISO9001 quality standards protecting customers. The QC planner position focuses on organizing and prioritizing the department based on production and sales needs. In addition, the planner is responsible for maintaining and organizing data collection and reporting results periodically. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other ThorLabs locations.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Organizing all product inflow/outflow for the QC department.
  • Prioritizing workload for all inspectors and technicians in the department to verify product is processed in the necessary timeframe.
  • Working directly with other planners and purchasers in the company to verify all needs have been met for production and sales.
  • Generate special and periodic reports as required or directed.
  • Assist in process clarification.
  • Develop, execute and analyze quality-reporting measures including but not limited to a rejection report and testing logs.
  • Report to QC Supervisor on quality issues, trends and losses as needed.
  • May compile, write and deliver training material on department standards and activities.
  • May process vendor RMA returns

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position preferred

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • High level of proficiency in both oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of personal integrity and reflect appropriate level of judgement and maturity.
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential matters.
  • Computer literacy using MS Office, Outlook and ERP software is mandatory.
  • High degree of initiative, dependability and work with little supervision.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage and audit/project and to supervise the work of assigned staff.
  • Ability to learn quickly, be accurate and timely in completing responsibilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability, desire and enjoyment in working with others, both coworkers and vendors, in a cooperative, professional and friendly spirit.
  • Work cooperatively with, and maintain effective communication and working relationship with, co-workers and manager.
  • Ability to accept and facilitate change, whether indicated by corporate needs, market or regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and with people of diverse backgrounds.
