Environmental Air Technician

Redhorse Corporation has an opening for an Environmental Air Technician who will support client-site personnel along with the Redhorse Senior Air Specialist and project manager on a periodic basis. The position is located on-site at Fort Polk, LA, which is an active military installation facility and will require a large amount of air emissions data entry and tracking, working on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regulatory assessments of air emissions sources. These sources may include, but not limited to; emergency electrical generators, boilers, fuel storage tanks and paint booths.
  • Collecting operational records for a number of air emission sources. Performing visual assessments of fuel storage tanks and dispensing operations and other air emissions generating operations in cantonment and other areas of the installation as needed.
  • Documenting assessments using pre-developed forms and pictures where necessary. All documentation will be submitted to the appropriate personnel for data management.
  • Attending design charrettes hosted by the Planning Division and the Corp. of Engineers to convey regulatory requirements and installation policy concerning air emission sources.
  • Supporting outreach initiatives involving air emissions sources and fuel storage operations.
  • Supporting training both intra and inter agency in terms of environmental compliance, pollution prevention, Environmental Management System (EMS) document control, air emissions sources, fuel storage and dispensing and associated program initiatives and support.
  • Implementing and assess Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents that define instructions for doing the above tasks. Report any discrepancies in SOPs to facilitate updates and increase effectiveness of standard protocols.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Position Requirements

Minimum Basic Requirements for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials include:

  • B.S. in Biology, Geology, Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel required
  • Relevant past performance / job experience required
  • Must be able to pass a detailed background check and secure/maintain security clearance
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation that includes a review of your previous three years of driving history
  • Candidates for this position must be able to work in changing physical conditions:
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds
  • Must be able to work in wet or humid conditions
  • Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts
  • Must be able to work near dust, gas, fumes or airborne particles
  • Must be able to work near extremely hot weather
  • Must be able to climb, jump, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Must be able to operate a government-owned motor vehicle safely
  • Will be required to work 40 hours per week
  • Will be required to travel locally

Additional Preferred Requirements for Skills, Experience, Education and Credentials include:

  1. Ability and eagerness to learn new skills quickly
  2. Proven organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  3. Ability to prioritize work requirements
  4. Experience as a field technician preferred
  5. Experience with diesel, propane / natural gas fired engines a plus
  6. Experience with operations at an active military installation a plus
  7. Prior military experience or working at military installations preferred
