Description

The Bloorview Research Institute at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital invites applications for a Scientist position.

We are looking to expand our research in the area of clinical developmental neuroscience related to childhood disability with potential areas of foci including developmental neuroimaging (e.g., MR physics, image processing, data science), brain markers of injury and treatment response, innovative technologies (e.g. stimulation), neuropsychological sequela and management and rehabilitation and wellness.

The successful candidate will lead a stellar, clinically-driven program of research relating to developmental neuroscience in children and youth with disability. The individual will be responsible for securing competitive research funding, attracting and training top-notch graduate students, publishing in top-tiered journals, addressing media when called upon and leading integrated knowledge translation activities. The scientist is expected to interface seamlessly with clinical, educational and research teams at Holland Bloorview. Research supervision will include Master's and PhD students in at least one cognate department or institute at the University of Toronto (e.g., Rehabilitation Sciences Institute).

Required competencies include: ability to lead an innovative, internationally-leading clinical research program; authentic engagement of clients & families; superb scientific writing abilities and proficiency with writing journal articles; ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams in an interdisciplinary academic environment; ability to effectively communicate with clinicians and faculty of different backgrounds, prospective donors, policy makers and families; versatility with emerging knowledge translation practices; compelling potential to contribute to evidence-based practice and best-practice guidelines; exemplary mentorship skills with potential to train the next generation of rehabilitation scientists; excellent teaching and presentation skills; and proven analytical skills and critical thinking.

Candidates must have earned a PhD or equivalent in a related field and must be eligible for an academic appointment in a cognate University of Toronto department or institute.

Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement outlining current and future research interests, 3 representative publications and names of 3 references.
