Description

Overview:

The field engineer is part of the operations team and will assist Project Managers and Superintendents with the interpretation of design drawings, specifications, project documentation, operation planning, scheduling, etc. Crux projects are located throughout the United States and Canada which will require our field engineers to travel for extended periods of time. Additionally this position may involve estimating projects, quantity take-offs, and site visits.

Duties:

  • Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating and supervision of field activities.
  • Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction.
  • Maintaining records as required regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
  • Assisting project management with planning and scheduling of jobs or operations.
  • Investigating problems and/or reporting incidents; identifying and recommending solutions/alternatives as appropriate.
  • Communication with design engineers to relay any constructability issues that may arise in the field.
  • Documentation of daily work progress, incidents, and quantities installed, etc.
  • Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements, pricing of materials, etc.
  • Working with suppliers as required facilitating the handling and expediting delivery of materials.
  • Collecting and managing project documentation.
  • Performing field quality inspections on construction activities and permanent materials.
  • Maintain a productive and collaborative work environment free of harassment, discrimination and knowledgeable of each assigned task
  • Immediately report any violations of policy (including but not limited to: safety, harassment and discrimination) to Project Manager, Superintendent, HR Manager or any member of management
 
Position Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

· Must have an undergraduate degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology, construction management or related before starting this position.

· Must be willing to travel to project locations across the United States and Canada.

· Have the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

· Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

· Have the ability to work individually and as part of a team.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

· Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize.

· Ability to access remote work sites by travel on helicopter.

· Walk on uneven and steep hillsides.

· Ability to climb onto drill platform that is 1’to 6’ off ground.

· Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb frequently (34%-67% of the time).

· Domestic travel required

· Availability for international travel (passport, background, etc.) preferred

· Skilled in AutoCAD and Primavera P6
