Description

1 - General and Administrative

  • Budget: Stays within the annual budget for Food Service Departments in coordination with Food Service Operations Manager.
  • Follows the Manager's Code of Conduct
  • Ensures that the Co-op's policies and procedures are enforced and administered in a timely fashion and recommends any changes warranted.

2 - Operations

  • Orchestrates the daily functions of the Food Service Departments.
  • Responsible for Food Service inventory, ordering and vendor relations.
  • Responsible for stocking and merchandising all department areas.
  • Works with Food Service Operations Manager to ensure proper signage and clean, attractive displays and cases.
  • Conducts or oversees regular meetings and huddles with all Food Service Departments in conjunction with the Food Service Operations Manager.
  • Works with the Food Service Operations Manager on implementing merchandising strategies including menus, weekly specials, demos, sampling events, and special promotions
  • Contributes ideas for new products, techniques and systems to improve Food Service operations.
  • Maintains Food Service Department sanitation procedures and ensures compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Monitors and works with Supervisors on rotation of product to ensure product freshness.
  • Ensures highest level of customer service listens and responds to complaints and suggestions from all to improve Food Service performance.
  • Scheduling - schedules Deli department and oversees scheduling done by Supervisors.
  • Receives and handles call-outs for staff directly supervised

3 - Employee Relations

  • Works with the Food Service Manager on hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, promotion, retention and dismissal of all Food Service Staff.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relations with members, Board of Directors and all other Co-op staff.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Education -High School plus culinary degree or college degree in food service or equivalent experience. 

Demonstrated experience (at least 3 years) and knowledge of commercial food preparation, such as catering, café/restaurant operations. Special skills: advanced culinary skills, computer skills to include food service programs.

Supervisory skills: at least 3 years of experience and/or completion of in-house supervisory training.

Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. comfortably on a regular basis.

Attendance Requirements: flexible hours, weekends and evening duty seven days a week.

Knowledge of the Following Equipment: Stove, knives, baler, compactor, U Boats, pallet jack, case opening knives, label gun, slicer, computers and scales.
