Description

Monarch Academy, Baltimore Campus is a Baltimore City Public Charter school, (K-8) open since August 2010. Monarch Academy aims to educate Maryland students to be self-motivated, creative, critical thinkers and life-long learners who are productive contributors to the global community in the 21st century. At Monarch Academy, children are encouraged to think critically, question, reflect, and participate in a rigorous, highly interactive instructional program that integrates arts and technology across the curriculum. Job Summary and Functions:

As a general educator for grades kindergarten through fifth grade, teachers must plan and implement instruction along with providing related educational services. The general educator must also manage student behavior, differentiate instruction, and assess students while keeping track of data pertaining to these.

  • Develop age and content appropriate lessons that are engaging and meet the needs of the students and follow the Common Core Standards
  • Collaborate with other team members and administration
  • Attend professional develop and staff meetings
  • Follow the school mission and instill the beliefs in our students
  • Assess students regularly
  • Analyze data and student progress
  • Keep accurate and up to date grades
  • Manage classroom culture and student behavior
  • Support and participate in school wide activities
  • Ensure classroom is attractive, safe, and conducive for learning
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers

Position Requirements

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from an accredited college or institution. The applicant must also have a valid standard professional teaching certificate in Elementary Education that is applicable for the grade they are applying for and being considered for. A  Maryland Teaching Certificate – either  standard or advanced professional certificate-  is preferred or  be eligible  to apply for one.
