Part-time Nutritionist

Registered Nutritionist / Dietitian

Please note that this position is part time- 6 hours per week.

General Job Description: Provide Nutritional consultation services to students in a therapeutic group living environment consistent with the individual needs of the student, as outlined in their growth plans (IGP), and in accordance with USDA meal pattern requirements and recommendation.


Reports to the Program Director while working in close collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator and School Counselors


Knowledge of USDA National School Breakfast and Lunch Meal Pattern requirements

Knowledge of emotional and physical disabilities of children

Ability to provide information through written and oral reports

Ability to consult with other professionals

Major Responsibilities

  1. Evaluation:

    • Review cycle menus at least annually for compliance with USDA meal pattern requirements and overall nutritional content.

    • Complete nutritional evaluation on newly admitted students and on an acute basis through clinical referral

  2. Program planning:

    • Develops individual nutritional plans for each student based on their nutritional evaluation and wellness goals as outlined in their IGP.

  3. Program delivery:

    • Performs periodic assessment of student’s progress on their nutritional plan, modifying the plan as needed and complete a written evaluative summary of the results and respective changes.

    • May be required to conduct nutritional group training for students

  1. Consultation:

    • Provides training and information for faculty and parents to enable them to be more effective with Academy students.

      Workplace Conditions:

  • Must maintain valid licensure

  • Must complete acceptable criminal background check

  • Must complete acceptable physical and drug screening

  • Must complete acceptable initial and annual TB test

  • Successful completion of behavior management program

Position Requirements

Academic Preparation and/or Experience

Possession of a Bachelor's degree in from an accredited Nutrition or Dietetics Program, Certification from the State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Dietetics Practice License & Commission on Dietetic Registration
