Description

The Data Analyst will interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques; develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. The position will develop reports and strategize ways to utilize data to improve operations and ensure best practices.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Design backup processes for data
  • Create accounts for all users and assign security levels for data software
  • Establish a disaster recovery protocol
  • Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution for database
  • Create database management procedures
  • Evaluate data analysis models and procedures
  • Train staff across programs

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: BS in Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.

EXPERIENCE: 2+ years’ professional experience or internship; Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.

TECHNICAL: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance. Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks) Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc). Familiarity with reporting tools.

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record required.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work occasional evenings, weekends for meetings or other job]related activities.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

COMMUNICATION: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of individuals. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to all. Ability to make oral presentations.

COMPOSURE: Good interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy, creativity and customer service. Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to represent the agency and respond professionally in all situations.

DECISION MAKING: Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of program decisions and resolve problems. Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems.

ORGANIZATION: Professional and organized with a keen attention to detail. A team player with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, on deadline and within a rapid-paced work environment.

PLANNING: Task oriented with the ability to plan, organize, prioritize and execute duties as assigned, within changing conditions. Ability to work proactively and independently to accomplish assigned goals.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Orientation: 5 hours

On the Job: 3+ months for basic competency

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDS:

Multi-line telephone, computer, ten key calculator, printers, copiers, faxes, scanners.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant – Ability to communicate with internal and external customers to determine needs and actions to be taken.

Frequent – Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.

Frequent – Ability to drive safely and recognize hazards.

Occasional – Ability to lift, stack, load and move up to 15 pounds from varied heights.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoors: 80% - Office environment; generally normal noise level.

Outdoors: 20% - All weather conditions and variable temperatures. Frequent distance travel.

 
Salary/Wage $60-$65K DOE
