Intermittent Building Service Worker
Definition and Purpose
The Intermittent Building Service Worker is under the supervision of the Assistant Director – Facility Operations and is responsible for custodial and maintenance duties as assigned and does other work as required.
Educational and Qualifying Experience, Skills, Licenses, Credentials
• Equivalent of completion of high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• One year experience as a custodian in a large facility.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, chemical disinfectants, and equipment used in custodial work; safety practice awareness knowledge and use.
• Ability to use and care for custodial equipment and supplies.
• Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with faculty, staff, and students.
• Ability to read and write clearly.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Ensure continuous professional development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain interior floors.
• Maintain conference rooms, lavatories, blackboards, windows, and blinds.
• Replenish lavatory supplies, empty wastebaskets, and remove trash.
• Assist in removing tables, chairs, and other furniture and equipment and facility set-ups.
• Maintain exterior surface around buildings.
• Maintain cleanliness of tables and furniture.
• Assist in the development and execution of assessment of programs and/or services for areas of responsibility including but not limited to setting and implementing goals, evaluating outcomes and ongoing enhancement.
• Participate in the overall ASI assessment planning and goal setting.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Unlock and lock doors and windows.
• Safeguard building and equipment from unauthorized use.
• The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment.
• Other duties as assigned.
Salary Schedule
Hourly Rate: $15.00
Background Check
This position is subject to a background check (including criminal records) as well as National Address Locater (Social Security Number [SSN] Trace), 7 year County Criminal Search in each county and/or state the applicant lived in based on the SSN Trace, National Criminal Database Search, Name Search, Employment Verification (All employers in past 7 years) and Education Verification (Highest Degree). Credit Reports, Motor Vehicle Record Check and Professional License Verification may also be required based upon the essential functions of the position.

Position Requirements

This position may require standing, walking, bending over, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, pushing or pulling, lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, repetitive use of hands/arms, repetitive use of legs, eye/hand coordination, and being around chemicals and/or machinery.
Environmental factors include working inside, outside, in humid conditions, around hazards, in hot or cold places, in dry or wet places, around odors, noisy, working with others, working around others and working alone.
