Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities(not all inclusive)

individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Examine and research items appearing on possible duplicate transaction reports and make necessary corrections;
  • Add freight costs to inventory and/or sales analysis as needed;
  • Examine and follow-up Accounts Payable vouchers, credit vouchers, and vendor credits entered against vendors for returned material and possible cost of sales errors;
  • Verify that on-hand balance, average cost, and general ledger have been updated correctly; determine variances and make appropriate corrections;
  • Examine and correct various daily reports (e.g. Gross Margin Errors, Cross Docking errors; daily cycle counts; Job 4650) that determine potential errors and make appropriate corrections;
  • Examine monthly and weekly reports to determine volume and scope of sales and inventory-related discrepancies that need to be corrected;
  • Research various discrepancies (including footage problems, unit of measure errors and cost variances) until resolved;
  • Examine and follow-up of in-transit reports to determine why material shipped from one branch has not arrived at another;
  • Maintain accuracy of buyout balances by analyzing inventory activity;
  • Examine weekly vendor direct material reports and research backlog of problems until resolved;
  • Maintain accurate sales records by entering sales representative code changes and other corrections into system;
  • Locate and reroute inventory that has been paid, but not received by the branch;
  • Work with assigned branches to clear up specific, branch-related problems;
  • Research and explain book to perpetual inventory variances;
  • Handle confidential information related to the cost from vendor and subsequent resale to the customer;
  • Support various audits internal groups involved in customer, bank, and external accounting firm audits by providing research and documents to support system average costs;
  • Filing of reports as needed;
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned;
  • Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others; report workplace hazards, injuries, or illness immediately.
 
Position Requirements

Education, Experience, & Ability Requirements

Any combination of requirements which provide knowledge & abilities necessary to perform Essential Duties & Responsibilities will be considered

  • High school diploma or a GED (general education degree);
  • Strong business math and algebra skills to accurately calculate financial numbers on MRC specific software; efficiently solve complex inventory problems; ability to contribute to the quality process by learning new procedures and functions within the department as needed;
  • Strong ability to accurately and efficiently enter data into MRC specific software;
  • Ability to establish working rapport with branch personnel, sales representatives, buyers, corporate and office managers, warehouse personnel, and other corporate departments using written correspondence, proper phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and with strong initiative in researching and correcting problems until final resolution;
  • Ability to contribute to the quality process by learning new procedures and functions within the department as needed; 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, with excellent skills in Excel and Access; ability to learn MRC specific software and other web based applications; 
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills, customer service skills;
  • Ability to establish excellent rapport with customers, sales representatives, branch management, and other corporate employees using written correspondence, proper phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status;
  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others; to understand and interpret safety instructions; and to respond to inquiries;
  • Ability to understand and comply with MRC guidelines & expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines.
