Description

As an Airport Systems Engineer you will support the design of critical airport systems such as performing analysis and design on process systems for airport projects in accordance with good engineering practice and Swanson Rink's standard of care. Airport systems include Baggage Handling Systems, Passenger Boarding Bridges and all associated sub systems, In-to-plane Fueling Systems and Passenger Security Screening Check Point Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Designs baggage handling systems, gate systems and security screening checkpoint systems to meet contract requirements, including product selection and layout for complete functioning systems.

  2. Performs required design calculations to determine the peak node and motor throughput.

  3. Assists with planning studies and reports.

  4. Assists in field observations, testing and commissioning.

  5. Assists in cost estimating, simulations, life cycle analysis and control system design efforts.

Travel Requirements Occasional travel is required.  
Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the expected knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, or a related field, from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university
  • Able to apply theoretical knowledge to achieve cost-effective, constructible design solutions

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; to express ideas; to share information; and to prepare clear, well-organized correspondence, reports and similar documents

  • Ability to work as a team by interacting effectively with coworkers, clients, and the design team

  • Familiarity with statistical methods, cost estimating, specifications preparation, control systems design, site survey and scheduling and phasing.

  • Preferred to have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.

  • Must be able to pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security screening requirements

  • Ocassional travel is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The work environment is what one would expect in a typical office environment. Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
