SUMMARY

Under the direction of Lead Activities Coordinators, the Activities Coordinator will provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The Activities Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of individual support plans as part of a day habilitation placement for people with disabilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Embrace Opportunity Village core values by cultivating positive and meaningful CONNECTIONS with OVIPs and colleagues, demonstrating ENTHUSIASM, high standards of PRODUCTIVITY, authentic STEWARDSHIP, and consistent participation in individual and team DEVELOPMENT.

  2. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village's organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of OVIPs (Opportunity Village Important People) and of staff.

  3. Provide active engagement, routine health and personal care support (i.e. eating, toileting, and exercising) and assistance with daily activities.

  4. Conduct the care needs of the individuals within the program with or without physical assistance.

  5. Support individual program plan (ISP)/vocational plans to ensure they are implemented on a day-to-day basis and collaborate with Career Opportunity Advocate as needed.

  6. Responsible for the participation and documentation of all service plans and habilitation.

  7. Ensure all proper documentation is complete (i.e. ID notes, vital sheets, communication logs, schedules, RAD forms and incident reports).

  8. Ensure equipment is clean, safe and functioning.

  9. Comply with all Federal, State (Desert Regional Center) and local regulations and requirements, and company policies and procedures.

  10. Collaborate with other staff and volunteers to ensure that all adults with disabilities have the opportunity to:

    • Gain knowledge of self management and behavioral skills that will enhance their contribution and integration into the community.

    • Promote an abuse and neglect free environment.

  11. Assist and guide clients through creative activities and expressions of talents.

  12. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation (ANE) within 24 hours as mandated by state law.

  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).

  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

  • Must encompass professional demeanor.

  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.

  • Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.

  • Required: Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

  • Preferred: One (1) year of verifiable work experience in health care, day care, mental health, education or related field.

     

 

EMPLOYMENT RESOURCE CENTER SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  1. Monitor productivity of individuals served and develop improvement initiatives (i.e. development of adaptive equipment, suggesting modifications to workstation design and workflow improvements)

  2. Conduct data entry of required information in Time Logger program.

  3. Accurately monitor and perform manual labor associated with the contract work to ensure customer satisfaction and completion dates are met.

  4. Maintain control of inventory.

  5. Set up equipment necessary for completion of contract work.

  6. Ensure individuals are supplied with the necessary tools or equipment for completing production work.

  7. Formulate plans for individuals served to overcome production barriers, quality control of final products, use of manufacturing equipment.

  8. Maintain quality control procedures to ensure the highest quality standards.
