Planetarium Presenter (Part-Time) 


The Treworgy Planetarium at Mystic Seaport features an A3-P Spitz projector and prides itself on programs that are informative, personal and interactive. The planetarium is seeking a regular part time presenter to deliver shows to audiences of all ages with a variety of background knowledge. The applicant must have a flexible schedule to work weekends and occasional evening events. Position is for 1-3 days per week depending on the season. Job Duties Include:

  • performing on-site planetarium shows for the general public, schools and affinity groups
  • communicating with visitors spanning a wide range of ages
  • performing educational outreach activities on and off-site
  • demonstrating the use of navigation instruments to visitors
  • interpreting the exhibit in the lobby of the Treworgy Planetarium

Position Requirements
  • Ability to present in a dynamic and engaging manner
  • Knowledge of the night sky and other astronomical concepts
  • Knowledge in the use of marine navigation instruments and their application
  • An interest in public education related to astronomy and navigation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Background in astronomy, museum education, maritime history, and/or teaching experience is preferred
  • Planetarium experience a plus

Morgan, America's oldest commercial ship still in existence.
