Job Summary
Security Manager of the Academy is expected to be a proponent of honesty, integrity, security, safety, and teamwork. The manager will maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and employees by establishing and enforcing security policies and procedures. A welcoming and outgoing personality is expected to maintain the friendly and unobtrusive atmosphere of the Academy. Given the Academy's multiple locations around the Los Angeles area, and each facility having multiple uses, the Security Manager will lead the Security Department by example and will emphasize the need to be extremely sensitive towards all the various employees and guest, and anticipating their needs.


Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and supervise Academy officers and contract security personnel to ensure the protection of property, assets, and people.
• Work with the Director of Security to ensure budget compliance.
• Project an image of friendliness, professionalism and willingness to provide personalized services to all building occupants, employees, and guests, whether over the phone or in person.
• Remain informed of current federal and local laws and regulations as they relate to the Academy, particularly in areas of guest, patron, and employee rights.
• Keep abreast of developments within the Academy and community as they relate to security as well as act as a liaison with local law-enforcement and fire department agencies.
• Coordinate with Human Resources for all training related to Safety.
• Administration of policies and procedures regarding security and safety; conduct safety and security inspections.
• Manage, conduct, and coordinate Fire/Life, Security systems and emergency response procedures.
• Write comprehensive incident reports and conduct thorough investigations. Maintain report records, assist and follow-up on investigations. Initiates and assist with general liability reports.
• Promotes loss prevention through training and awareness to reduce claims.
• Writing and updating building post orders.
• Escort V.I.P's in a professional and courteous manner.
• Supervise special events whether on Academy premises or off-site.
• Perform any special projects deemed necessary by Director of Security.
• Responsible for security duties during absence of Director of Security.

 
Position Requirements

• Management experience required; must have at least 5 years of experience in a security supervisory role.
• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of California & Los Angeles Fire Code, Penal Code, Civil Code, CAL-OSHA, OSHA.
• Knowledge of Worker's Compensation and ADA.
• Executive Protection experience
• Event management experience
• Experience with computers, preferably MS Office Suite, Windows, Adobe Pro desired.
• Knowledge of Security and Fire Life systems.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certified preferred.
• Must have a valid Guard Card and CA driver's license in good standing
• Dependable transportation a must to travel locally between job sites.
• Experience in supporting special events, security screening, and crowd control.
• Strong interpersonal, written communications and the ability to exhibit a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Must be detail-oriented and organized with excellent follow-through and analytical skills.
• Must be able to work independently with the ability to juggle priorities and manage time to effectively meet deadlines.
• Proactive in asking questions when needed and resourceful in solving problems.
• Able to anticipate needs and act upon requests independently.
• Must be able to work weekends and late hours on short notice, as needed.
