General Description:

The primary responsibility of the Intake Coordinator role is to provide support for the mental health intake process for adults, children, and families in a culturally competent manner. The intake coordinator initially interviews via phone or in person and gathers personal information for required documentation, and verifies the individual qualifies for services. The intake coordinator will see clients for assessment appointments when possible or schedule the client assessment with another available provider. The intake coordinator will make ongoing clinical case assignment, location and level of care recommendations.

In the Mental Health Therapist role of this position, the chosen applicant will provide individual and family therapy to client populations that may include children, adults, and families. The therapist may also provide case management and consultation with PCP’s, Parole/Probation, Drug and Alcohol providers, DHS Child Welfare, schools, self-sufficiency programs, and other community partners. Some evening hours will be required. Some community work may be required. Eligible clients may be self-referred or referred by PCP’s, County Mental Health, other community partners, DHS, and/or self-sufficiency. Authorization for services may be required from the CCO or another payer source.

Position Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

Master’s or doctorate degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field. Licensure or pursuit of licensure is required. Knowledge and/or experience providing mental health services, including assessment and diagnosis, to children, adults and families. Knowledge of the impact of trauma and experience working with disadvantaged and high-risk individuals, including work with incest, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence. Experience with, or knowledge of, Serious Persistent Mental Illness. Strong understanding of available community resources and supports. Must be computer proficient in a Microsoft Windows environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and record keeping software preferred. Must have respectful, open, unbiased, accepting attitude toward clients and their families. Must be able to pass a Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check. Must be able to qualify as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts initial interview with potential clients over the phone or in person, using established treatment screening. Gathers necessary personal information required during the screening process.
  • Complete associated documentation concurrently in person or over the phone.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and DSM5 diagnosis
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, defining specific measurable goals and objectives, and revise as needed.
  • Assign clients to clinicians utilizing a best-fit model
  • Provide short-term therapy and case management services in the office.
  • Maintain accurate and current client records, in accordance with Agency standards and Federal and State guidelines.
  • Work closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and their primary care physicians to coordinate treatment as needed.
  • Coordinate case activities with Clinical Supervisor, DHS/Child Welfare, Criminal Justice Providers, schools, and others as appropriate.
  • Refer clients, both screened out or accepted in to treatment at Options, to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling as appropriate.
  • Make requests for authorization for services to the local CCO as required.
  • Attend and participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision and team meetings, as directed.
  • Coordinate with DHS and the local CCO regarding referrals as directed.
  • Remain current on relevant research and evidenced informed practices.
  • Report suspected abuse and neglect.
  • Maintain client confidentiality according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Vision sufficient to read client records and related documentation
  • Extended periods of time sitting at work station updating client records, and phone work
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to cope with clients who may use challenging or offensive language with potential for escalation to physical aggression.

Salary Range* $40,000 to $48,000 DOE
