Job Duties

Provide specialized Business Development/Supply Chain Management (BD/SCM) product support to regional/business development sales efforts, offering information and solutions throughout the whole procurement/sales cycle in order to maximize revenue and gross margin opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive)

Individual must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Work to create product awareness across MRC Global footprint;
  • Provide technical training, assistance and support regarding technical specifications of products;
  • Identify underperforming markets, develop and execute strategy with regional/global leadership to increase market share;
  • Obtain and communicate market intelligence, including customer activity, competitor activity and potential new activity;
  • Assemble and assess market intelligence, turning into actions that afford MRC greater opportunities to secure business;
  • Make joint sales calls and presentations with BD/Ops representatives;
  • Partner with BD/Ops/Project groups to understand customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions and make value-added recommendations;
  • Establish and maintain understanding of vendors and resources, acting as sourcing specialist for preferred vendors; communicate sourcing strategy to BD/Ops/Project groups;
  • Develop and train resources in technical aspects of Gas Products materials and value added selling;
  • Maintain knowledge of current product offering in inventory and be able to recommend substitutions to customers AML;
  • Handle confidential information relating to product cost ;
  • Evaluate technical and commercial sections of project bid packages;
  • Establish internal customer relationships and provide technical information;
  • Participate in meetings, and training opportunities to enhance and maintain understanding of operations process and identify areas to offer BD/SCM resources/support;
  • Other duties as assigned;

Position Requirements

Education, Experience & Ability Requirements

Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.

  • Four-year college degree OR equivalent industry experience. Engineering degree preferred.
  • Strong financial and business acumen;
  • Experience in, and understanding of effective supply chain management practices;
  • Accomplished people leadership skills and the ability to drive performance of the company through others;
  • Proven successful experience in fields relevant to gas products and the business of the company. This may include distribution, utility and gas industries;
  • Proven ability to build a sustainable safety culture and the development of effective safety behaviors across an organization;
  • Effective negotiations skills demonstrated with large value contracts;
  • Strong PC skills with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access, and familiarity with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and accurately calculate applications such as resale prices, units of measure conversions, and percentage of change and profit margins and markups;
  • Ability to author and present data to a group of peers, managers and external constituents.

Additional Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries;
  • Ability to understand and comply with MRC Global guidelines and expectations, to include Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest guidelines;
