POSITION SUMMARY:

The Junior Cyber Incident Handling/Response Support Analyst will ensure that information system compliance and security mechanisms are implemented, present and operational IAW DOD, USCYBERCOM, JFHQ-DODIN, Joint Staff, and DISA regulations, directives, guidelines, and other proper authority. This includes, but is not limited to, IAVM notifications (IA Vulnerability Alerts [IAVAs], IA Vulnerability Bulletins [IAVBs], and IA Vulnerability Technical Advisories [IAVTAs]), Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), SRGs, STIGS, security scans, reviews, and assessments.

POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Ensure non-compliant information systems and applications with IAVM (IAVA, IAVB, and IAVTA), CVE, SRG, STIG, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), review and assessment open vulnerabilities are patched or have Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documented and approved
  • Test and apply information system/application/web/database security fixes and vendor-recommended software maintenance as directed and approved by the Program Management Office (PMO)
  • Ensure the proper, acknowledgement and reporting of IAVM notices via generated messages
  • Appropriate personnel (e.g. Identity and Access Management (IAM), Information System Security Manager (ISSM), System Administrator (SA), etc.) must have and maintain active accounts in DOD approved vulnerability repository
  • Establish a comprehensive Vulnerability Management Plan, including vulnerability remediation, STIG compliance management, and patch testing
  • Provide feedback to the client on the relationship between the IAVM status of assets, and any malicious incidents that occur
  • Provide situational awareness to the client of any known vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies, and major changes to the network or other actions that would affect the client’s ability to protect subscriber networks
  • Maintain the client guidelines for the hardening of networks (e.g. STIGs) and inform the client of any significant changes to the security or architecture of the networks (e.g. architecture redesign, addition/removal of critical servers or infrastructure, etc.)
  • Refer to the Information Assurance Information Support Environment (IASE) for network hardening guidelines (http://iase.disa.mil)
  • Notify the client of any configuration management (CM) changes involving connectivity, to include location, sensor name, CCSDs, bandwidth, Internet Protocol (IP) address space, and/or backend connections or changes that could affect NetOps and maintain a CM change log
  • Responsible for helping to create and deliver:
    • Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documented and approved
    • Test and Security fixes report
    • Active accounts report
    • Vulnerability Management Plan
    • IAVM status report
    • Situational Awareness report
    • Configuration Management (CM) log
 
Position Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess DoD Top Secret, SCI, and IT-I access and may undergo a favorably adjudicated Tier 5 Investigation (formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)) as a minimum requirement. (Applicants who do not currently hold an active TOP SECRET clearance will not be considered)
  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science preferred or relevant work experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Incident Analysis and Handling Operations (Information Assurance Support)
  • Recent experience with Incident Response and Vulnerability Management Incident Detection and Analysis
  • Computer Network Defense Program Support
  • Cyber Security Policy and Support
  • Information Assurance Policy Support
  • Experience with ArcSight, HBSS, Retina, Websense, Cyber Forensics, Cloud Computing, ICS/SCADA Security, Malware Analysis or Command Cyber Readiness Inspections
  • Ability to leverage CND-related toolsets to detect and respond to IT security incidents
