Location The Children's Guild - Prince George's Campus  

General Job Description:

To provide clinical oversight for the programs of The Children's Guild. This position will focus on the clinical administration of the day schools' clinical and related services, the out-patient mental health center, Psychological Services, the after-school program (non-MSDE funded), the clinical records system and regulatory and MA billing oversight for all Guild non residential programs and services.

Academic Preparation and/or Experience:

Possession of at least a Master's Degree in a Mental Health or related field and 5 years experience in administration, supervision or program management in a mental health, social service or special education organization.


This position is accountable to the Director of Educational Services.

This position clinically supervises: day school Clinicians, the Speech and Language supervisor, Occupational Therapist(s),the Director of Psychological Services, the Records Specialist, and the Clinical Services Secretary.


I. Management of Clinical and Related Services in the Day Schools

This task is successfully completed when:

a. Systems are in place for monitoring and implementing the provision of therapy, counseling, case management and related services in accordance with the developed IEP and ITP.

b. All identified documents which are to be completed by identified staff are provided in a timely and accurate fashion and include but are not limited to: IEP and ITP, IRP Service tickets, Progress Summaries, Quarterly and Annual progress summaries, Discharge summaries and Sumone surveys.

c. Assurance that parents, families, and providers are contacted in a

timely manner with information relevant to their student.

d. Staffing needs have been met to provide therapy services to students

e. Clinical supervision is provided to all clinical and related service staff providers in a timely and effective way.

f. Clinical meetings are carried out on an as needed basis.

g. An effective clinical internship program is developed and maintained.

h. Parents are offered the opportunity to be regularly involved in class room parent education groups, parent support groups, and provide opportunities to support their child's class through fund raising, class room instruction, serving as chaperons on field trips, etc.

II. Billing and Volume of Service(VOS) Oversight

This task is successfully completed when:

a. All agency service providers are proficient in the use of Grids and service tickets to monitor service delivery requirements.

b. Grids are updated and functional for successful monitoring of service delivery and Medical Assistance Billing

c. Volume of Service reporting matches service delivery requirements

III. Regulatory Compliance

This task is successfully completed when:

a. A process for assuring compliance is established and effective for all relevant licenses including:

School based clinic-(Direct responsibility rests with Clinical Director)

Free-standing clinic-(Direct responsibility rests with Med Serv. Dir.)

Out patient mental health clinic (Direct responsibility rests with Dir.

of Family Help Clinic)

Psychiatric rehabilitation program (Direct responsibility rests with

Director of After School Program)

b. Required documentation meets regulations for all governing agencies (MSDE, DHMH, MA)

c. Student records are maintained in a timely and organized manner

d. Clinical personnel have been credentialed and privileged in accordance with the standards and requirements as set by the organization and other standard setting bodies.

e. Chair the Mental Health and Related Services Q I Committee and submit Q I reports in a timely manner.

IV. Training

This task is successfully completed when:

a. An inservice training program is developed which targets the specific needs of clinical and related services personnel.

b. Seminars are made available to staff.

c. Clinicians and related staff have assistance and support in writing clinically sound treatment plans and progress notes.

d. Training in the Team Model is accomplished and enacted.

e. Parent Training Program is in place.

V. Provide supervision and training on the application of psychotherapy to

children, adolescents and their families.

This task is successfully completed when:

a. A credentialing program is in place for Children=s Guild staff

for the application of developmentally based psychotherapy principles

in the classroom and the milieu.

b. A parent training program in developmentally based parenting is

in place.

c. Developmentally based therapeutic interventions are integrated

into the educational curriculum.
