PURPOSE, OBJECTIVES, FUNCTIONS:

The Senior Director, Market Access (SDMA) is responsible for developing and executing kaléo’s patient access strategy with key strategic customers, including PBMs, payers, IDNs and government programs, with the goal of increasing patient access and profitability. Using both quantitative and qualitative methodology, the SDMA will identify and prioritize appropriate targets, develop and execute winning negotiating strategies, build effective business relationships and close deals that increase patient access and profitability. The SDMA will be the strategic lead for all activities with these strategic customers and will work collaboratively with all other internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Access & Trade, Data & Analytics and Finance) to ensure alignment toward delivering results. The SDMA will provide the perspective and feedback of the strategic customers and develop key strategic insights toward the further refinement of kaleo’s patient access strategy.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand key strategic customers’ strategies and incentives

  • Develop subject matter expertise in reimbursement space and track trends

  • Develop and execute patient access strategy with key strategic customers

  • Identify and prioritize appropriate PBM, payer, IDN and government program targets

  • Develop and execute winning negotiating strategies

  • Build executive level relationships with key strategic customers

  • Close deals that increase patient access and profitability

  • Provide leadership and direction on strategic customers to cross functional team

  • Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders

  • Develop key performance indicators and track progress

  • Provide key insights and strategic thinking to future patient access strategy development

  • Perform company business in accordance with all laws, regulations and company policies

  • Demonstrate high ethical and performance standards

Position Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA Required, MBA preferred

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical or medical device commercial and management experience

  • 5+ years of PBM, payer, IDN and government program contracting experience

  • 5+ years of executive level/corporate sales experience

  • Data-driven and analytical mindset with strong business acumen

  • Outstanding presentation and written communication skills

  • Executive level, strategic customer relationship building skills

  • Strong negotiating and closing skills

  • Ability to build and maintain cross functional relationships across the organization

  • Strategic thinking and strategy development skills

  • Appetite for learning and continuous improvement

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and approach to business challenges

  • Richmond base preferred, but remote base possible (hub airport city preferred)

  • Ability to manage significant travel (>50%)
