General Job Description

To support the Children’s Guild behavior motivation model and provide clinical supervision as needed.

Qualifications

The qualifications of this position include the interest and drive to develop the potential of other people and the interpersonal skills necessary to do so. The successful candidate will also possess a value system that is consistent with organization’s philosophy and goals, demonstrate leadership skill, be mentally alert, physically healthy and possess the stamina needed to work with children in a dynamic environment. The person in this position must also possess a desire to grow, learn and change, and to serve as a role model. Must be a licensed social worker.

Accountability

This position is accountable to the Director of Clinical and Related Services and/or Senior Counselor.

Key Result Area #1: Responding to Mindset in Behavior

This KRA is successfully completed when:

  1. Review student behavioral histories at the time of admissions as assigned.
  2. Pro-active use of behavior management that provides safe spaces for students to regulate their behavior.
  3. Identify alternate behaviors to be taught to the student that align with Individual Educational Plans and Behavioral Intervention plans.
  4. Planning for a student’s use of aggressive/violent behavior.
  5. Maximize the therapeutic impact of each response.
  6. Customizing the response to the emotional and physical needs of acting-out child.
  7. Decision making is child centered as opposed to adult centered.
  8. Methodology of practice aligns to the school’s positive Behavior Intervention Model.
  9. Fostering internal controls in order to decrease the frequency, duration and intensity of aggressive/disruptive behavior.
  10. The therapeutic focus is strength based to maximize academic performance.
  11. Careful data collection on student’s behavior drives decisions.

Key Result Area #2: Management of Clinical Services in the Day Schools

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Assurance that parents, families and providers are contacted in a timely manner with information relevant to their student.

b. Maintain a caseload in which individual, family and group therapy are offered in accordance with a student’s IEP.

c. Parents are offered the opportunity to be regularly involved in class room parent education groups, parent support groups, and provide opportunities to support their child’s class through fund raising, class room instruction, serving as chaperones on field trips, etc.

Key Result Area #3: Regulatory Compliance

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Daily practice aligns with COMAR regulations.

Key Result Area #4: Training

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Participate in and graduate from the Children’s Guild’s Pre-Service Training Program.

b. Participate in The Children’s Guild College of Transformation Education and complete a minimum of 12 Guild Education Units (GEU’s) per full year of employment.

c. Participate in campus in-service trainings and agency in-service trainings.

Key Result Area #5: Professional Development

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Licensing and continuing education requirements are met.

Key Result Area #6: Positive Student Intervention

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Execute PBIS throughout the program.

b. Transformation education integrated into clinical practice.

c. Staff and student culture card fully implemented.

d. Behavior motivation incorporates the following models and tools:

Social skills curriculum (skill streaming, second step), measurements (social skills rating scale), collaborative problem solving.

e. Goals and objectives generated from rating scales are aligned with the IEP and BIP.

f. Utilization of Experiential Education.

g. Identify potentially high risk situations and align students’ BIP with the IEP goals and objectives.

Key Result Area #7: Transportation

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Monitor student transportation issues and address with students.

Key Result Area #8: Workplace Conditions

This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Must have therapeutic options certificate.

b. Assists team members in crisis intervention.

c. Shared office space, e.g. team office.

d. Evening meetings as requested

 
Position Requirements

Academic Preparation and/or Experience:

Possession of at least a Master’s Degree in Social Work and possess LGSW or

LCSW-C licensure or licensed as an LCPC.
